Demystifying The Hair Mama's wigs and toppers
We all know The Hair Mama features beautiful pieces.
But what's the difference between her Illusion, Euro, Grip, Vella....basically, all of her pieces??
Look no further, we have the breakdown here.
The first thing you should know is that there are different types of construction and different types of hair textures/origin that make up the name. Stay with us.
Construction refers to the type of wig or toppers cap construction. Sometimes the cap may have a double lace top, may have velcro, or a silk top.
Hair textures/origin on the other hand, refers to the hair itself and where it comes from which may indicate how the hair feels, its density, and texture.
So here it is..
Types of Cap Constructions
1. Illusion (Wigs only):
The Illusion Wigs feature a double lace cap type which makes the hairline more robust and durable compared to the single lace construction. The added layer also makes the hairline look a little more realistic due to the lace holes not being as prominent.
This wig type does not need any glue or tape for secure wear!
2. Euro (Wigs only):
The Euro Wigs feature a premium monofilament top and European Remy human hair, which make this wig extremely lightweight yet durable and easy to put on. Monofilament tops give close to a scalp like finish and lays flat against the scalp.
This wig type does not need any glue or tape for secure wear!
3. Grip/Euro Grip:
The Euro Wigs feature a premium silk top and European Remy human hair, which make this wig extremely lightweight yet durable and easy to put on. Silk tops give the most realistic scalp like finish.
This wig type does not need any glue or tape for secure wear. The silicone grips help secure the wig on top of the head (great for those with thin/thinning hair and/or are bald) and is safe for all skin types.
4. Medical Cap: Silicone lining throughout cap
The Medical Cap wigs feature silicone grips, similar to the Euro Grip wigs, but throughout the cap. This construction is ideal for those who are bald because it provides grip throughout the scalp, the sides of the head, and the back of the head.
Because this wig type does not have any clips or combs, you will need either glue, tape, or a wig grip for secure wear. The silicone is safe for all skin types.
5. Vella (toppers only): Velcro attachment for additional grip
6. Rookie Wig/Rookie Topper/Rookie Topper with Bangs: Made for beginners, lower price point, made with Indonesian hair that dries wavy
Rookie wigs (marked at around ~$600) and toppers (under $200) are great budget finds! Indonesian hair (see below) are lightweight and easy to manage, which makes it great for beginners!
Types of Hair Texture/Origin
1. Brazilian: thicker hair density, robust, dries straight
2. European: thin hair density, dries straight
3. Slavic: thin hair density, dries wavy
4. Indian: medium hair density, dries wavy
5. Indonesian: medium-thin hair density, dries wavy
