I first noticed my hair was falling out about almost 14 years ago. It started as a very small dime size circle and it just expanded.
The fear of the unknown really was what had me so afraid because I didn't know what was happening. I didn't know what was going on and nobody could tell me.
I felt like my world had come crashing down on me. You know, who are you without your hair? I've been asking myself that for the last 14 years. I'm glad I know now.
Even if you don't have alopecia, getting a wig or styling a wig or learning the basics of It was a lot. So, I did learn how to do my own lace and lay my own wigs, but after a while I was just like, this is too much.
I felt like I was hiding. You know what? I'm just going to go ahead and not wear any kind of wig. I didn't want to hide anymore for myself.
That decision was very hard because I felt like I was betraying myself. I felt like I had got so accustomed to the bald girl, the alopecia girl, the shiny head girl, you know, I fell in love with her and to decide to put a wig back on, I kind of felt like, why are you doing me like this?
I still have not did it yet. I haven't made that decision yet, but when I used to wear wigs, I could be whoever I wanted to be. I love the pixie, I love the bob, little curls or tendrils.
But, now that I have I've come into myself, now that I love myself more, I'm more confident, I show up for myself more. I don't feel like I would betray myself. It's just a different version of me.

I can't emphasize enough how Pinky's customer service was above and beyond anything I've experienced before. She was so patient with my many questions (new to the alternative hair world) and was invested in ensuring the piece I chose was the right one for me. The quality of the hair is to die for! It is so silky smooth and soft (even after washing). I love it so much and have received many compliments (no one noticed it wasn't my hair). I would absolutely buy another piece from Silk or Lace! I will add that I had my hair stylist add some low lights to the piece but I'll include an original photo as well.
This topper is so sleek and smooth. After struggling with trying to get lower-grade hair toppers to lay flat and just be silky, this was such a breath of fresh air. The color somehow matched my roots perfectly as well. It's honestly the first topper I have not had to cut, thin, and layer. If you have fine, thin hair and are looking for a little boost but not a head full of "influencer" hair, then this is perfect. I wore it in front of my family and I will never forget their faces when I lifted it up to show them-- they honestly had no idea. Even after showing them, my sister in law asked me the next day if I was wearing it (it was in a ponytail.) It lays so flat and blends so well. These days my bio hair would never get this long and it hasn't been smooth like this for 20 years. I seriously think I look 10 years younger with it on!!
I have had alopecia and been wearing wigs for about 8 years now, and have tried a lot. I LOVE my new wig! Looks exactly like the photos and as described, and very high quality. I purchased a lightly loved WBT “Betsy” lace wig recently and I’m absolutely blown away by the quality. The hair is silky soft and the density is medium light making it a great match to my bio hair. The listing had noted pink tinted make up staining to the lace which I’ve been able to mostly remove. Very happy!
