Ear tabs are the material on the side of them wig, just under the temple that cover/create your sideburns!
You may choose to purchase a wig that does not have any ear tabs (or you can cut them off as well), which enables you to blend in your own sideburns with the wig's hair. However, if you're looking to wear a wig that's a completely different hair color than your own, or if you have significant hair loss and/or alopecia, we recommend you purchase a piece with ear tabs.
It's not only important to decide if you would like ear tabs or not, but also what kind of ear tab: structured with silicone, structured or lace ear tabs!
Structured ear tab with silicone lining
A structured ear tab with silicone lining is a great construction if you are looking for the easiest throw on and go piece, or if you have minimal to no hair to clip the wig on to!
These can come with or without clips (as can all wigs!), to adjust to your needs. For example, someone who is bald may prefer to have no clips or combs in the wig at all so they don't cause irritation. Silicone is a sought after addition because it morphs to the shape of your head and creates a slip-free fit so you can hair flip all day!

Having ear tabs means that you do not have to blend any of your natural hair into the piece as it will cover your entire hairline. There are pieces that have thinner ear tabs for blending, but overall ear tabs are meant to cover your hair entirely.
Lace ear tab
A lace ear tab is a great constrcution if you are a person who loves to do up-dos or play with your hair. When working with a lace ear tab, you can either cut the lace back and blend in your natural hair, or you can leave the lace longer and glue it down!
By gluing down the lace from ear to ear (which can be done with a few drops of glue), you run your hand through your hair, put your wig into a pony or head bang at a concert with no worries!
