Tahnee Brown started as a hair colorist by training, but when she experienced hair loss due to personal events, her life changed forever. 

She started the Facebook group, Hair Loss Sisters, to unite women who were experiencing the same issues as she had been going through. Little did she know, it would become a huge success with almost 12K followers and numerous posts from many women every day!

About 3 years into her page, she decided to take a leap of faith and create pieces for her new brand, The Hair Mama. 

Her goal was to create fresh and modern hair colors and styles that weren't available in the market - and the brand took off!

I have spent years as a stylist in this business, and a wig wearer myself trying to unearth the truth behind vendors and hair sourcing. It’s a tough nut to crack. 

One way that consumers can help change this industry is to become more aware of industry terminology and where hair comes from.

Here's some facts I've learned from my years of experience.

I’ve had a lot of people reach out to me about my integrated hair topper, meaning that it stayed on my head 24/7! I showered with it, went to the gym with it and, though I never tried, I could even swim with it! 

The best thing about my integrated system is that it helped me accept my hair loss. But there are some caveats to an integrated hair system that are important to know before committing as well.

What's the right answer?

Honestly (and this isn't a cop out answer), there isn't a "right" answer - many people can wear and look great in both!

In many instances, it comes down to personal preference and it may even be dependent on the occasion/weather as well!

Here are some top line differences between a wig and hair topper as well as factors to consider when choosing between the two types!

The short answer is no - you don't *need* to wear a wig cap.

However, if your wig isn't the perfect fit, or if it has any of these factors, you may consider wearing a wig cap and/or wig grip to make sure your unit stays in place.

The term, Remy or Remi, is used for human hair that has the cuticle layer intact and kept aligned in the same direction. 

It is considered a high quality grade of hair because it feels soft, silky, and does not tangle as easily compared to non-Remy hair.
